Description:

Andromeda “Andy” Castillo is confronted with negative conformity each and every single day. Her development of cosmic superpowers pushes her to prove only one of two outcomes: is she a hero or is she a villain?

FAQs from the author:

Even though this game is about a superhero, I wanted the character to be based on a realistic lifestyle that some people can relate to. Andromeda is a young girl in highschool, just trying to make her way as a student in a big, intimidating city but she constantly faces adversity; whether that is bullying or an unstable relationship with her mother or even her neighborhood in Harlem, NYC. I wanted to her to feel real and based in real emotions that hopefully, you recognize when you play this game and connect with her at some degree.  It’s easy to relate to her good-willed nature; Andy is constantly challenged with decisions that she knows deep down, which choice is right and which choice is wrong. We all have that ability to do so. Like most of us, Andy needs to do what’s right to preserve her moral character, even though negative outside forces can influence her to do what she wants instead.

The most powerful decision Andromeda has to make that directly ties in with her wants vs. needs is her confrontation with her bully from earlier in the story, post-gained superpowers. Up until this point, the world surrounding her pushes her down, degrades her, spits in her hair and she finally has this chance to capitalize on her emotions, as extreme as the outcome may be. She has to decide between conforming to this sickened, ugly society and join their ranks by killing this man who tormented her; or, she has the ability to say “no, I can rise above this and be better.” So, in writing this game, I imagined that she wants to consistently wants to cave in and conform – read the introduction to the game again, it’ll make more sense if you didn’t catch it the first time. However, Andromeda “good-side”, if you will, needs to try and stay centered by her two moral motivators through the story, Grandma’ Castillo and her unfortunately deceased father.

As far as the pacing of the story beats and how they flow into one another, I wanted the story to build from seemingly simple moral choices to more complex and even dark possibilities. Andromeda’s story itself is about overcoming that darkness that can be difficult for some us to overcome at times – in the end she ends up doing the right thing, or at least attempting to – which can be very relatable for most of us I think. Personally, I find stories that fiddle with both a good side and a dark side of a personality to intrigue me; it puts my moral views in perspective. Aside from Andromeda’s personality, I thought that tying her name and her power to some intergalactic force cause prove for some interesting and dynamic character attributes.

I appreciate you giving me your time in playing this game (and even reading this description). I hope you enjoy it!
